Shared Hospital Laboratory (SHL) is an innovative collaboration between Scarborough Health Network, North York General Hospital, Michael Garron Hospital, and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre created to provide a state-of-the-art lab space to serve thousands of Ontarians with their testing and diagnostics needs. SHL is the largest hospital-based microbiology lab in Ontario and performs bacteriology, molecular microbiology, mycology, and whole genome sequencing testing.SHL engages its member hospitals in clinical advisory, operations, and planning. Additionally, SHL liaises with Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), Infectious Diseases (ID) and Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASP) departments for activities such as antibiograms, committee representation and utilization, all of which contribute to our ability to provide high-quality microbiology lab services
